Yamaha FG-580

The Yamaha FG-580 is a hand-crafted flat-top acoustic guitar produced between 1971 and 1978, positioned within Yamaha's FG series above the FG-500 and below the FG-1500 and FG-2000. It features a solid spruce top, jacaranda back and sides, and an African mahogany neck. Depending on when a particular example was made, it may carry one of several labels: Red (1967–1972), Tan (1972–1975), Black (1974–1977), Orange (1974–1985, Japan only), or White oval (1977–2001, Taiwan only), making the label one of the most reliable tools for dating an individual instrument. The model belongs to Yamaha's Hand Crafted range and was produced in relatively limited numbers. No specific players are documented.
