Yamaha FG-550
The Yamaha FG-550 is a twelve-string from the red label era, produced in Japan and Taiwan from 1969 to 1972. Guitars from this period carry either a red label (1967–1972) or, for later examples, a tan label (1972–1975), a useful detail for dating. Construction features a solid spruce top, jacaranda back and sides, and a mahogany neck. Owners describe bright, resonant tones with rich harmonic overtones and a warm midrange that balances the natural shimmer of the doubled strings. Slight body bow is common but rarely affects playability.
