Yamaha FG-512

The Yamaha FG-512 is a twelve-string jumbo built in Japan and Taiwan between 1977 and 1981, featuring a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck. Three label variants correspond to its production run: the Black label appeared from 1974 to 1977 on guitars from both Japan and Taiwan; the Orange label ran from 1974 to 1985 on Japanese-made instruments only; and the White oval label covered Taiwan production from 1977 to 2001. The closed-headstock revision is the more sought-after build, with a full, shimmering harmonic texture that comes from the matured solid spruce paired with rosewood. Finish cracking where the neck meets the body is the typical visible wear pattern on survivors. No notable players are documented in association with this model.
