Yamaha FG-500
The Yamaha FG-500 was produced at Nippon Gakki in Japan from 1969 to 1972, placing it squarely within the red label era, which ran from 1967 to 1972 across both Japanese and Taiwanese production. A subsequent tan label era followed from 1972 to 1975. The FG-500 was built with a solid spruce top, jacaranda back and sides, and a mahogany neck, with an ebony fretboard and bridge completing the specification. The Yamaha Western body shape, 634-millimeter scale, and three-tuning-fork headstock inlay distinguish it within the early FG lineup. Survivors deliver a dynamic, well-aged voice, and serial numbers track to specific build months at the Nippon Gakki factory. No players are currently documented in association with this model.
