Yamaha FG-450

The Yamaha FG-450 is a dreadnought produced from 1972 to 1974 in Japan and Taiwan. Its construction features a solid spruce top, jacaranda back and sides, and an African mahogany neck. Given its two-year production window, examples may carry a Tan label (1972–1975) or, toward the end of production, a Black or Orange label (both introduced in 1974); earlier examples built at the start of the run could also carry a Red label (1967–1972). Owners describe a full, booming, warm voice that sits well past what the price suggests. The full C neck profile, 25-inch scale, and 16-inch fretboard radius give it a comfortable feel, and survivors that need brace reglues and neck block work clean up beautifully into player-ready instruments. No players are currently documented.
