Yamaha FG-440
The Yamaha FG-440 is a dreadnought acoustic guitar produced from 1972 to 1989 in Japan and Taiwan, featuring a spruce top, jacaranda back and sides, and an African mahogany neck. Its label history spans several eras useful for dating individual instruments: the tan label ran from 1972 to 1975 across both Japan and Taiwan, the black label from 1974 to 1977 in both countries, the orange label from 1974 to 1985 in Japan only, and the white oval label from 1977 onward in Taiwan only. The model carried a Dove logo that was replaced by a Leaf logo in 1987. No documented notable players have been associated with this model.
