Yamaha FG-402
The Yamaha FG-402 was produced from 1975 to 2001 as part of Yamaha's FG series, with no US distribution. Top woods used across its production run include Spruce and Ezo spruce variants, while back and sides were made from Nato, Rosewood, or Coral depending on the example. Neck woods include Nato, Mahogany, and African. The guitar features a rosewood fingerboard and a three-piece back construction. Label history is useful for dating individual instruments: the Tan label appeared from 1972 to 1975 on Japan and Taiwan examples; the Black label from 1974 to 1977 on Japan and Taiwan; the Orange label from 1974 to 1985 on Japan-made guitars only; and the White oval label from 1977 to 2001 on Taiwan-made instruments exclusively.
