Yamaha FG-351

The Yamaha FG-351 was produced from 1975 to 1978 and belongs to the jumbo-body rosewood series introduced during Yamaha's FG expansion, which also included models such as the FG-345, FG-350W, FG-365S, and FG-375S. Its woods are an Ezo spruce top with Coral rosewood back and sides, and an African mahogany neck. Dating a specific example depends closely on its label. The tan label was used from 1972 to 1975 on guitars built in both Japan and Taiwan. The black label ran from 1974 to 1977, also covering both Japan and Taiwan production. The orange label, used from 1974 to 1985, is Japan-only. The white oval label, running from 1977 to 2001, indicates Taiwan manufacture exclusively. Because the FG-351's production window spans several of these label eras, collectors rely on label color and text to narrow down both the year and country of origin. No players have been documented in association with this model.
