Yamaha FG-350W
The Yamaha FG-350W Western is a flagship export model produced from 1977 to 1981, built in Japan and Taiwan with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck. The ornate floral pickguard, block fretboard inlays, and adjustable bridge are direct visual nods to Gibson's Country and Western models — the 350W was conceived specifically to mimic the look and feel of high-end American acoustics of the late 1960s, with the Gibson Hummingbird and SJ-200 among its clearest references. The voice is deep, loud, and projecting, very different from the mahogany FGs of the same era. Depending on production date and market, examples carry a black label, an orange label, or a white oval label. Original list price ran around six hundred pounds, equivalent to nearly two thousand pounds today.
