Yamaha FG-345
The Yamaha FG-345 is a dreadnought produced from 1977 to 1981 in both Japan and Taiwan, with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck. Depending on origin and era, examples carry one of three labels: the black label (used 1974–1977 for Japan and Taiwan production), the orange label (1974–1985, Japan only), or the white oval label (1977–2001, Taiwan only). Owners describe an unusually bright, clean voice that gets better the older it gets, with low action that plays quick all the way past the twelfth fret. The diamond fretboard inlays, two-piece back with inlaid marquetry strip, and double-bound body are visual cues that set it above the mahogany-back FGs of the same era. No notable players have been documented.
