Yamaha FG-280

The Yamaha FG-280 was produced from 1972 to 1974. Guitars from this model's production run may be encountered with one of several labels, depending on the year and country of manufacture: the Red label (used 1967–1972, Japan and Taiwan), the Tan label (1972–1975, Japan and Taiwan), the Black label (1974–1977, Japan and Taiwan), or the Orange label (1974–1985, Japan only). Identifying the label inside a given example is therefore one of the most reliable ways for collectors and buyers to narrow down its date of origin. The FG-280 was built with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and an African mahogany neck. No players have been documented in association with this model.
