Yamaha FG-280

The Yamaha FG-280 is a jumbo-body acoustic guitar produced from 1972 to 1974, introduced as part of a significant expansion of Yamaha's FG lineup that year. Built with a spruce top and mahogany back, sides, and neck, it represents a mid-range offering from Yamaha's early-1970s production run. Because of its short production window, the FG-280 can appear under two label eras: the tan label used from 1972 to 1975 and the black label introduced in 1974, both covering Japan and Taiwan production. A "-1" suffix variant, the FG-280-1, was also produced in the later portion of the run. Examples in good condition attract collector interest primarily from those seeking early Yamaha jumbo-body guitars from this transitional period.
