Yamaha FG-260

The Yamaha FG-260 is a twelve-string dreadnought produced from 1974 to 1977 in Japan and Taiwan, with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and an African mahogany neck. Depending on when and where a guitar was made, it may carry one of several labels: the tan label spans 1972–1975 and covers both Japan and Taiwan production; the black label runs 1974–1977, also across both countries; the orange label covers 1974–1985 but appears on Japanese guitars only; and the white oval label, used from 1977 to 2001, is exclusive to Taiwan. Owners describe strong projection and a big, chimey shimmer. Common watch points on survivors include the action creep that accumulates under twelve-string tension over decades.
