Yamaha FG-240

The Yamaha FG-240 is a dreadnought produced in Japan and Taiwan from 1972 to 1974. Depending on when it was built, examples may carry a Red label (1967–1972), Tan label (1972–1975), or Black label (1974–1977), making the label one of the most reliable dating tools for prospective buyers. The guitar features a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and an African mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, a 25-inch scale length, and a nut width of 1.75 inches. Survivors deliver a lively, articulate response with strong projection across registers, though many now turn up with replaced bridge saddles, missing end pins, and yellowed binding. Original Yamaha hard cases are an increasingly rare inclusion on these.
