Yamaha FG-200D

The Yamaha FG-200D is a dreadnought acoustic produced from 1980 to 1986, built in Japan and intended for the domestic Japanese market. Its construction centers on a spruce top with mahogany back and sides and a nato neck. Label identification is straightforward for this model: guitars carrying an orange label fall within the 1974–1985 Japan-only era, while the white oval label was used exclusively on Taiwan-built instruments from 1977 through 2001. Since the FG-200D was a Japan-made domestic model, examples encountered today should bear the orange label. Documented specifications from surviving examples include a 25-inch scale length and a nut width in the range of 1.74 to 1.75 inches. The voice is the dependable late orange-label Yamaha dreadnought sound rather than anything exotic. Clean examples turn up well-kept rather than thrashed, since these were home-market guitars rather than touring workhorses. No notable players have been documented in association with this model.
