Yamaha FG-165S-1
The Yamaha FG-165S-1 is a dreadnought produced from 1974 to 1977 with a spruce top, nato back and sides, and a toog neck, built in both Japan and Taiwan. The "-1" suffix was added to most existing FG model numbers around 1975 and appears in small type on the black rectangular label, causing some owners to miss it entirely. Guitars may also carry tan or orange labels depending on origin and date. After decades of string tension, high action and maxed-out truss rods are common on survivors and should be assessed before playing.
