Yamaha FG-165S
The Yamaha FG-165S is a dreadnought produced from 1972 to 1974 in Japan and Taiwan, with a spruce top, nato back and sides, and a mahogany neck. Depending on production date, examples may carry a tan label (1972–1975) or a black label (1974–1977), making label inspection useful for dating a specific guitar. The tone is big, warm, and woody with a mellow character that suits folk, country, and fingerpicking. The medium-big C neck and roughly twelve-inch board radius give it a comfortable feel, though the truss rod on surviving examples is often near its limit, sometimes pointing toward a future neck reset.
