Yamaha FG-151
The Yamaha FG-151 is a dreadnought produced from 1975 to 1978 in both Japan and Taiwan. Its construction features a spruce top, African mahogany back and sides, and a nato neck. Depending on when and where a particular example was built, it may carry one of several labels: the tan label was used from 1972 to 1975 in Japan and Taiwan; the black label ran from 1974 to 1977 in Japan and Taiwan; the orange label covered 1974 to 1985 and is found only on Japanese-built examples; and the white oval label, used from 1977 to 2001, appears exclusively on Taiwanese instruments. This label history is one of the most reliable ways for buyers to date and locate a specific guitar. The FG-151 comes in a natural gloss finish, has a 25-inch scale length, and a nut width of 1.75 inches. Players describe a clear high end and a defined low end that handles fingerpicking and spirited strumming without losing focus.
