Yamaha FG-122
The Yamaha FG-122 is a folk-size acoustic guitar produced by Yamaha from 1975 to 1978, built in both Japan and Taiwan. Its construction features a spruce top with African mahogany back, sides, and neck. Dating a specific example is aided by its label history: tan labels were used from 1972 to 1975 in Japan and Taiwan; black labels ran from 1974 to 1977, also covering both countries; orange labels spanned 1974 to 1985 and were exclusive to Japanese production; and white oval labels ran from 1977 to 2001, appearing only on Taiwanese-made instruments. The FG-122 occupied a budget position within the tan label lineup during its brief production window. No notable players are documented in association with this model.
