Yamaha FG-110

The Yamaha FG-110 is a folk-size acoustic guitar produced from 1967 to 1974, built first in Japan at the Nippon Gakki factory and later in Taiwan, with a spruce top and agathis back and sides over a nato neck. Its label history is one of the most useful tools for dating surviving examples: red labels appeared from 1967 to 1972 on guitars from both Japan and Taiwan, tan labels from 1972 to 1975 from both countries, black labels from 1974 to 1977 from both countries, and orange labels from 1974 to 1985 on Japanese-made instruments only. Owners describe a velvety, harp-like midrange and a small body that sounds twice its size, with classic seventies Yamaha character that suits singer-songwriter work and lower-register fingerpicking. Common condition watch points are bowed necks and saddles run all the way down, since the truss rod is often near its limit on surviving examples. No notable players have been documented in association with this model.
